1.1 Be—Present Forms
The verb be has three forms in the present: am, is, and are.
SUBJECT BE
I am a professor.
She from Chicago.
My professor excellent.
He is from the Philippines.
The college convenient.
It near public transportation.
We ESL students.
You are a good teacher.
They nice.
Notes:
1. The subject is a noun (professor, college, etc.) or a pronoun (I, you, he, she, it, we, they).
2. We begin sentences with the subject.
The teacher is intelligent. (not: Is intelligent the teacher.)
